Mycelium growth, and polysaccharide production, amylase and carboxymethyl cellulase levels, in cultures of Cordyceps brasiliensis Henn supplemented with different concentrations of lanthanum nitrate[La(NO_ 3 )_ 3 ], were evaluated. Fungal biomass, intra- and extracellular polysaccharide production, and amylase levels reached peak values in cultures supplemented with 0.3 g/L La(NO_ 3 )_ 3 , and then decreased gradually with increasing concentrations of the La(NO_3)_3. Carboxymethyl cellulase (CMCase) levels were maximal in cultures containing 0.2 g/L La(NO_ 3 )_ 3 , and then declined gradually with increasing supplementation of La(NO_3)_3.
