彝族是一个古老的民族,现今分布在我国的四川、贵州、云南及广西一带,大小凉山周围尤为集中,是我国地域分布比较广,人口数量比较多,且支系繁多、族称复杂,保持民族传统比较完整的少数民族。大凉山在四川西南凉山彝族自治州内,是大雪山的支脉。这里山脉连绵,海拔在1000至4000米之间,地形破碎,自然条件恶劣,对外交通和联系极为不便。但因此也让彝族人得以完整地保存了本民族
