木叶声,婉转、悠扬、动听入耳、含情脉脉,别有一番情趣。苗族青年小伙子何以要喜爱吹木叶?大概是由居住的环境与条件来定吧!苗族人大都依山而座,这是历史的缘故。亦因苗族人依山而居,故而常年听到千只百鸟的叫声,而且鸟的叫声各异,有激昂的、有清脆的……常言道:“近水知鱼性,近山识鸟音”。古代的苗族先民们,当听到娓娓动听的鸟声之后,便摘木叶仿效鸟的叫声去吹,故而形成吹木叶的习俗。
