中共中央顧問委員會主任鄧小平九月二日接受了美國哥倫比亞廣播公司‘六十分鐘’節目記者邁克·華萊士的電視採訪。下面是他在回答記者關於中美關係和中國統一問題時講話的主要內容: 華:里根總統和夫人對我的節目很有興趣,差不多每個星期天都看這個節目,在我的採訪節目播出時,他們一定會觀看。不知你有什麼話對里根總統說? 鄧:在里根總統和夫人訪問中國時,我們認識了。我們相互间的談話是融洽的和坦率的。我願意通過你們的電視台,轉达我對里根總統和夫人的良好祝願。我希望在里根總統執政期间,中美關係能有進一步的發展。
On September 2, Deng Xiaoping, director of the Advisory Committee of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China accepted a television interview with Mike Wallace, CBS ’60 Minutes reporter. The following is his main speech in answering a reporter’s question on Sino-U.S. Relations and China’s reunification: China: President Reagan and his wife are very interested in my show. I watch this show almost every Sunday and I broadcast it on my interview program When they will watch. I do not know what you say to President Reagan. Deng: We met when President Reagan and his wife visited China. Our conversations with each other are harmonious and frank. I am willing to convey my good wishes to President Reagan and his wife through your television station. I hope that during the administration of President Reagan, there will be further development of Sino-U.S. Relations.
