The decentralization of power in China since the 1980s has exacerbated competition among different regions and has thus become an important reason for the tide of privatization of Chinese enterprises today. This is a professor at Peking University's China Center for Economic Research and a professor at Oxford University in the United Kingdom, Professor Zhang Weiying, recently pointed out in an academic lecture in Shanghai. Dr. Zhang believes that the wave of privatization of Chinese enterprises goes far beyond economists' estimates.
