英国著名戏剧家莎士比亚(1564—1616)在世界剧坛上有着巨大影响。各国为纪念他而举办的大大小小的戏剧节,每年大概也不在十个以下,其中规模较大、专业性较强的有三个,它们分别是由英国、加拿大和美国所主办的。有趣的是,这三个戏剧节的地点都在斯特拉福——莎翁出生地的名称。当然,真正的斯特拉福只有英国一个,其它两个不过是“移植”的罢了。英国是莎翁的故乡,英国斯特拉福的莎士比亚戏
The famous British dramatist Shakespeare (1564-1616) has a huge influence on the world’s theater. The large and small theater festivals organized by various countries to commemorate him are probably no more than a dozen each year, of which three are larger and more specialized, which are hosted respectively by Britain, Canada and the United States. Interestingly, all three theater festivals are in the name of the birthplace of Stratford-Shakespeare.
