棒球运动和垒球运动,是较早传入我国的运动项目。从当前发展趋势来看,也是较有发展前途的运动项目。但是,在我国这两项运动却经历了缓慢而曲折的发展过程。研究棒垒球运动的发展历史,了解世界棒垒球运动的状况,总结我国棒垒球运动发展过程中的经验和教训,对于推动我国棒垒球运动的健康发展,使之更好地为四个现代化服务,有其特殊的意义。由于我国棒垒球运动发展史的研究刚刚开始,加之过去有关史料不多和作者水平的限制,本文难免有错谬之处,望读者多加指正。
