一《资治通鉴》和《通志》两宋时期是中国古代史学取得辉煌成就的时代;早于北宋建立的辽和先于南宋灭亡的金,同两宋的关系至为密切,它们在发展史学上的成就丰富了中华民族史学的内容。两宋史学,在通史撰述、当代史撰述和历史文献学方面都有巨大的成就,在民族史、域外史、学术史和史学批评方面也都取得了重要成果。《资治通鉴》和《通志》是宋代史学上影响最大的两部通史著作。
