The comprehensive utilization of “three wastes” (exhaust gas, waste water and waste residue) has drawn increasing attention in foreign countries because it is beneficial to environmental protection on the one hand, and useful components can be recovered therefrom. Our SOPSID Waste Recovery Plant (SOPSID), which we visited in France, successfully recovered scrap, iron ore concentrates and construction materials from steel slag using dry self-abrasion and dry weak magnetic separation to provide comprehensive experience for the comprehensive utilization of steel slag . Thompsy was built in the first half of 1973, near the town of Tyrolville in the Lorraine region of France. The plant acquired the steel slag of the steel mills within ten kilometers of its vicinity and transported it to its pile yard by truck.
