继近期的电影《卡拉是条狗》后,丁嘉莉又塑造了一些新的艺术形象,有《走戈壁的女人》里的母亲,和《四号女监》中的犯人等。在播放的电视剧《走戈壁的女人》里,丁嘉莉演的田寡妇是一位伟大的母亲。从镜头里就可以看出,戏拍的很苦。丁嘉莉介绍,剧组从北京辗转到银川外景地,拍戈壁沙漠里的戏,她女扮男装进金矿,穿着一身脏兮兮的男人衣服,头发乱糟糟的。那样的环境把她的眼睛弄坏了,因为矿区灰尘很大,眼睛老是流眼泪,可当时忙的根本没时间回来看眼睛。丁嘉莉的敬业给剧组创作人员留下了深刻的印象,编剧称赞她是“一位演戏和做人都堪称一流的好演员”。
