涵盖式人文主义是杜维明在历来新儒家对于儒学特质总结基础之上的继承发展。杜维明将儒学称为是具有“涵盖式”精神的儒学。“为己之学”、“内在超越与终极转化”以及“天人合一”这三个方面,突出的展示了儒学的涵盖性并且构成了涵盖式人文主义的支柱。这三方面的相互关联对于理解涵盖式人文主义的内涵有着重要作用。涵盖式人文主义所表达的是中国儒学所特有的人文情怀,亦是对于生命的终极关怀。
Covered humanism is the inheritance and development of Du Weiming on the basis of the summarization of Confucianism traditionally Neo-Confucianism. Du Weiming called Confucianism Confucianism with “Covered” spirit. “Learning for Oneself”, “Inner Transcendence and Ultimate Transformation”, and “Oneness of Nature and Humanity” highlight the coverage of Confucianism and form the pillar of Covered Humanism. The interrelationship of these three aspects plays an important role in understanding the connotation of Covered Humanism. Covered humanism expresses the humanistic sentiment peculiar to Chinese Confucianism and also the ultimate concern for life.
