On December 3, 2003, Microsoft unveiled a new technology licensing strategy and claimed that it demonstrates Microsoft’s commitment to exchange intellectual property with other vendors for the purpose of improving product compatibility and innovation in the industry. Microsoft will establish a licensing program to control the use of its wide range of intellectual property, including copyrights, trademarks, file formats and systems, software technologies, and standards developed by Microsoft.
