从认知语言学的角度来看,转喻是一种概念层面上的“邻近”关系,不仅是一种修辞手段,而且是普遍的语言现象。和隐喻一样,转喻也是基于人们的生活经验,作为日常生活中思维方式的一部分,来构建人们的思维和行动。英语转喻可分为整体和其组成部分之间形成的转喻关系及整体的部分之间形成的转喻关系。本文对英语转喻经常涉及的类型进行了简要归纳。
From the perspective of cognitive linguistics, metonymy is a kind of “neighborhood” relationship at the conceptual level. It is not only a rhetorical device but also a common linguistic phenomenon. Like metaphor, metonymy builds people’s minds and actions based on people’s life experiences as part of the way of thinking in everyday life. Metonymy in English can be divided into the metonymic relations formed between the whole and its constituent parts and the metonymic relations formed between the whole parts. This article briefly summarizes the types often involved in metonymy.
