许智宏,北京大学第30任校长,也是第一位北大毕业生任北大校长。1999年12月13日,许智宏登上北大图书馆报告厅的讲台,57岁的他动情地说:“我没有想到自己在这个年纪重返北大。”2008年11月11日,在他离任前夕,他在学生宿舍和称他为“许爷爷”的学生们一起唱起《隐形的翅膀》,被媒体称为“最具个人魅力”的校长。在正式离任的公开信中,许智宏写道:“今年我已66岁,已经完成了9年北大校长的历史使命,功过是非就留给后人去评说吧。”
