笔者于二十年前在莆田时,得着病家介绍一种治痢生草药,名叫泻痢草。本年春节乘回莆之便,特地找到这草药,携带来省,请教本所龚伯澧医师。他说该草名龙芽草,又名石打穿,依据本草纲目所载的马鞭草,释名龙芽草,又名凤颈草。据我个人的体会,马鞭草与泻痢草完全不同,惟花穗略有相似。就此可以肯定马鞭草非是龙芽草,而泻痢草就是石打穿的一种龙芽草。

According to my personal experience, verbena and esparto grass are completely different, but the flower spikes are slightly similar. It is certain that verbena is not a dragon bud grass, and esparto grass is a type of dragon bud grass worn by stone.
