  In our counry, traditional art of architecture can never be seperated from literature. In ancient times, scholars painted while crafts man made painted things into reality, thus traditional architectures were born with romance and peotic feelings of literature and arts. Many classic master pieces have described people’s ideal living places. In Lieh Tzu, “During Dayu’s flood control, he lost the road and went wrong to a country in the north of the North Sea beach, no idea how many tens of millions of miles it is away from China. That country was called the end of the country, and no one has been clear where its boundary is so far.” In the first volume of Natural History, “35,500 miles broad from the north to the south is the marvelous Kunlun Mountain.” In The Classic of Mountains and Rivers, “Along the road from east to west is in total 500,109,800 steps.” We can see the ancients have been yearning for a place where we can never reach, where we have the ideal home, which we often call it fairyland. There we can enjoy the beautiful scenery, harmony and prosperity, peace and happiness, which itself is a worry-free paradise. But unfortunately they mostly appear in places far away, full of mystery.
  The Concept of Shan-shui City
  Since modern times, the rapid development of industry, science and technology on the one hand brought us numerous benefits, on the other hand also brought a lot of problems to the city. In the bold construction of the city at the same time, we are constantly undermining the city. At present, thousands of cities look almost the same. Though buildings in front you are among the international level, they have already lost the charm of the East, and the “fairy land” in our dream since ancient times seems to be moving away from us.
  At this time, a few people begin to think: what is the future of Chinese architecture? Big scientist Mr. Xuesen QIAN is among them. But the interesting thing is that he is not from the architecture academic background. When facing knife-like skylines with no difference in Beijing, he always feels pity about the vanishing Shan-shui China.
  Xuesen QIAN is not a building counterpart, but he is superior with keen visions. He is in line with the traditional landscape garden city of nostalgia, but also combined with the international trend and the professional understanding of science and technology, re-proposing the concept and idea of Shan-shui city. The difference is that his integration of science and technology, making the concept pioneering and innovative.   The so-called Shan-shui city, refers to the architectural design guidance theory targeted at the oriental culture circle, combining with science and technology, being concerned about harsh problems brought about by the current urban development, thinking about the future of China's urban form, and to explore a multi-functional comprehensive road of urban construction under the test of science whereas also meeting the demand of easthetics.
  The Fusion of Science and Technology and Oriental Architecture
  Affected by the concept of Shan-shui city, many architects have begun to realize the crisis that the East architectural characteristics are vanishing. But as the time goes by, the traditional building can not be adapted to modern people’s living. Therefore, we must have a new form of oriental architecture to meet people's modern life, while retaining our deep-rooted consciousness of the Shan-shui landscape. So how can this technology be combined to sublimate our oriental architecture in this context?
  The result of the Japanese architect Kuma Kengo's works in this respect is a good example. The structure of oriental traditional buildings is dominated by wooden tenon structure, which is limited to the characteristics of wood. Traditional buildings have shortcomings including short life, intolerant totermite bite, etc. To solve this, in modern times, they have been replaced by simple and crude reinforced concrete, thus the light but restrained characteristic of the oriental architecture have disappeared. In the works of Kuma Kengo, we can see the return of an oriental quality. The traditional sense of wood texture is very prominent, but its core is very strong and reliable, together with the simple steel structure. Steel and wood structure is not only beautiful and durable, but also able to maximize the preservation of the original features, while the modern metal technology sense has also been maintained.
  In addition to Japan, Chinese architect Yansong MA in this regard also has his own ideas and trial.
  Chinese landscape artifacts are often reduced to potted plants, the so-called finding the big from the small. And MA is at the opposite side. Enlarging the potted plants that has been entitled with the essence of people’s dream, he uses it as a prototype for architectural creation, creating a traditional Chinese painting-like landscape art atmosphere. To achieve this effect, the epidermal support technology for a strong structure is needed to achieve aesthetic requirements whereas at the same time, more importantly, to ensure that the safety of the structure under the influence of force, such as planting huge trees on the floor. Other problems like casing, moisture, anti-pest as well as anti-tree root damage to the building also need to be solved with technological supports.   The imagination of the future oriental city
  Yansong MA's landscape architecture model is undoubtedly a bold exploration of the future. The modern city, because of the dramatic increase in population becomes crowded, more eagering for the beautiful scene in the fairyland. What will our architecture be in the future? Wonderland can really be realized? Countless peers have been exploring along this way. Here, the author would like to share two immature ideas for reference. One is about the idea of the sky city, and the other is on the study of the sea city.
  Sky City
  It is foreseeable that the future of the building will gradually develop to the height, between the building and the building is full of corridors, under the large tracts of natural green space to create a composite sky city, to complete such a project requires the introduction of complex technology.
  First of all, the structure of technology, the construction of complex urban space need to set up the skeleton, which composed of three parts, the structural support system, pipeline network and traffic network system. Second, the need to make a spacial division on the established skeleton, like putting a drawer into the cabinet, namely, traffic, houses, green, public places and so on. Moreover, ecological technology, including sunshine, green plants, fresh air and other natural elements, all of which are indispensable. The introduction of sunlight can be supplemented by a computer-controlled intelligent mechanical system that reflects sunlight to places that are not easily spotted, and properly installed enough batteries to convert and accumulate solar energy. Greening is achieved with a reserved "empty drawer" on which we cover muds and plant trees and flowers to regulate the climate; transport is no longer a car-based, but being three-dimensional public transport-based, supplemented by bicycles and walking.
  The establishment of such a high-tech high-density sky city can reduce the occupation of arable land and nature reserves, whereas efficient division is to make full use of urban space. Making flat city space stacked together to form a "compressed biscuits" type of massive city form, making the possibility of large fields between cities, which can be a key place to restore the Earth's ecological system, and ultimately restoring the original landscape environment. This model will not only produce a unique architectural art effect, more importantly, is conducive to the sustainable development of the environment serving multiple purposes.   Sea City
  For a long time, three fairy mountains in the Classics of Mountains and Rivers, Penglai, Fangzhang, Yingchau have been existing in the dream of each Chinese, which represent the health, longevity and freedom. However, in reality we have not found any of them. With the increasingly mature technology, can we build such a mountain on the sea? Through the relevant science and technology, combined with the unique architectural language to simulate the natural mountains of the texture and atmosphere, in the vast waters we may really create such a wonderful fairyland of mountains and sea.
  Take a competition project of the author as an example. The project is located at the junction of Malaysia and Singapore, adjacent to the Malaysian ecological wetlands, which is the world's second largest mangrove conservation area. Surrounded by beautiful scenery, fresh air, there are convenient traffic to Singapore and Malaysia.
  Our idea is to create a mountain and sea city through the scientific and technological means, using reclamation to build a picturesque oriental wonderland, in addition to poetic design, we also need a lot of technical content support as well, such as:
  Green building treatment. The first is the building shade. In order to balance the energy consumption and the value of the sea, we need to make integrated use of the active and passive shading methods. In the need for good landscape but east-west, through the architectural form of each other to form a passive shade. In the places that passive shade are unavailable, adding the adjustable louvers to assist. Moreover, adding wind turbines in the higher areas to provide emergency lighting for the entire building. What’s more, the building should be equipped with green skin and green roof in order to effectively reduce the indoor temperature and reduce noise.
  Greening of shoreline. On the one hand, the shoreline adopts graded design, taking full account of the trend of low tide and tide and typhoon floods, and the outermost first level is mangrove forest and beach. The second stage is landscape trail and some artificial greening. The third grade is connected with the city road, being the city's external landscape road. On the other hand, the shoreline is extended and fresh water filtration and storage facilities are set up in the middle, making full use of local natural resources through wind power generation and tidal power generation to reduce the fresh water cost of the city.   Desalination. Reclamation of freshwater resources is often required from the inland transport but the cost is too high. Therefore, the ecological conservation and purification of the shoreline of the project is extremely important. While preserving the natural mangrove natural filter belt, the green energy technologies such as wind power generation, active water purification technology and tidal power generation are increased. At the sametime the tower is equipped with a retreat greening treatment, so that the whole city becomes very pleasant microclimate, while the recycling of water resources can also be achieved.
  Dimensional traffic. The design of the scheme adopts the layered traffic design, which controls the traffic line with the three-dimensional traffic mode in one or two layers, and combines with the surrounding parking area. The third layer is the main urban landscape layer, using the ecological ring in the middle of the landscapes to integrate the city's slow-line system, and in which set the use of bicycle stations, landscape nodes, commercial recreation area and other matching sets of the city’s slow-line system; the fourth layer is mainly organized with the light rail station, connecting the stream of people using vertical traffic in the building and the vertical traffic of the light rail station.
  Elastic design. In this part, we will grade mangrove ecological conservation and human leisure tour route, the including mangrove forest protected areas into the leisure landscape streamline. At the same time according to the local hydrological conditions and climatic conditions set the grading system of the shoreline.
  In fact, the need to apply the technology is far more than the above part. To achieve such a large oriental Wonderland, relevant technical support is indispensable, from which we can see that the pursuit of future oriental architectural art is also inseparable from the technical support.
  The development of science has promoted the progress of human productive forces and the development of traditional architectural art. Oriental architecture is complicated and mysterious, but confined to a variety of reasons, it is gradually vanishing. Combining science and technology, we expect to recover such a unique art, and in the process, promote this art to a new height to achieve the perfect sublimation, which is the great significance of science and technology on the traditional architectural art.
