Objective: To clarify the relationship between collagen and serum low density lipoprotein (LDL). Methods: Type Ⅰ collagen gel was prepared in vitro and several factors that may affect the binding of oxidized LDL (ox-LDL) to collagen were observed. Results: As the degree of LDL oxidation increased, the amount of its binding to collagen also increased. CONCLUSIONS: This increase may be mainly due to an increase in the negative charge of lipoproteins and an increase in the degree of LDL aggregation to reduce the binding capacity of LDL to collagen. In addition, apolipoprotein B in Lai, Jing, group, tyrosine residues in the chemical modification may play an important role in the ox-LDL and collagen binding
