列宁在不同历史时期曾提出过各种各样的思想理论观点。传统上,人们一直侧重于从他对马克思主义基本原理创造性运用与发展的角度来阐释其思想理论观点的发展演变,而很少注意到这其中还存在着俄罗斯民族角色定位方面的含义。如果说在十月革命前这种俄罗斯民族角色定位方面的含义还处在潜藏状态的话,那么在十月革命胜利后,随着列宁主义成为官方意识形态,它就对苏俄、苏联在20世纪的实际国家发展道路,尤其是对外政策与行为,产生了十分巨大的影响。
