中国的藏书文化伴随着图书的产生而出现,具有两千多年的悠久而灿烂的历史。它以逐渐丰富的藏书、日益完善的藏书机构、专门的收藏家和研究者、建设各种与藏书有关的专学,并以一种可贵的人文精神为主要支柱,润泽着全民族,形成一种重要的文化现象,成为中华文化重要结构之一。因此,研究中国的藏书文化,特别是对中国藏书文化基本理论的探讨,尤有必要。中国藏书文化的基本理论就是围绕着“藏”与“用”的问题而展开。从整个中国藏书史的发展过程看,“藏”似乎是重要支点,而“用”往往处于一种次要地位,所以“藏书”的概念比较早地形成。
