“苏麦六号”原名“苏９３５６”，是江苏太湖农科所以“６６９８白”为母本与“扬麦５号”杂交育成。１９９７～１９９８年同时参加江苏、安徽、湖北、上海等省、市区试和全国区试（长江中游组）均显著增产。全国区试平均亩产２６２．２８ｋｇ，比“扬麦１５８”增９．０７％
