In the 1880s, French imperialists invaded and occupied Vietnam’s Nanxun and marched northward, occupying part of the territory along the Ma’guan and Malipo areas of Anping Hall (now Wenshan) in Yunnan in an attempt to turn it into their colony. My people in all southeastern Yunnan, together with their enemies, have risen to struggle. After a series of defeat by the French imperialists, they instead resorted to assassination measures. They first sent people to assassinate Miaowu Xiong and later assassinated the horse. They think this will put an end to the fires of our people of all ethnic groups in their fight against aggression.
