Charlotte Perkins Gilman is one of the most important female writers in the United States in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Her short story, “Her Beauty,” tells the story of a fair-skinned but gifted girl, Emma Reese, who lost her confidence and love under patriarchal repression. After she gradually awakened her inner feminine consciousness, she gained the female voice and economy through her own efforts Independent, to achieve a change of identity of new women.
