中苏友谊铁路西段地区（以下简称本区）,即自乌鲁木齐往西经昌吉、玛纳斯、石河子、沙湾、乌苏至精河一带,已经开始发展了以苹果为主的大面积果树生产。这一带地区过去果树栽培基础薄弱,技术落后,苹果栽培采用埋土防寒越冬。这种栽培方式缺点很多,还不能适应目前及今后大面积发展果树生产的需要。为了采取露地栽培方式,在本区发展苹果生产,露地越冬问题就成了急待研究和解决的重大课题。现在谈谈我个人对这个问题的一些认识。

In the past, the cultivation of fruit trees in this area was weak and the technology was backward. This cultivation method has many shortcomings and can not meet the current and future needs of developing large-scale fruit trees. In order to take open-field cultivation methods, the development of apple production in this area and the problem of overwintering in the open fields have become major issues to be studied and solved urgently. Let me now talk about my personal understanding of this issue.
