当电信运营商们从2001年“宽带建设”的热潮中逐渐冷静下来的时候,他们开始反思,宽带建设究竟该怎样投资?由于宽带内容的缺乏,普通用户对宽带市场热情不够,开通率很低,巨额的投资短期难以收回,造成了所谓的“宽带泡沫”。于是,有的运营商把目光投向了团体用户,如联通的万栋楼工程,网通的千家写字楼计划。 就在电信运营商对普通用户一筹莫展之时,广电开通了“第五媒体”——数据广播,针对的就是国内家庭用户的信息服务市场。目前,广电在未完成双向改造之前,所推出的业务还是一种单向的信息服务,其功能可能无法与宽带的功能相比,但是,对于普通用户来说,他们更关注运营商提供的服务内容,而不是用什么方式或哪种技术。而且广电最大的优势是具有丰富的节目资源,而这恰恰是宽带互联网的弱点——内容缺乏。当然,广电的数据广播能否成功还有待于市场的检验,但其发展思路很有积极意义。本期对话,我们摘取广电、电信专家对数据广播的看法,也许会给我们一些启发。
