《琵琶记》《拜月亭》孰优?明中叶以前已有共论,以为后者有补于风教。这显然与朱元璋开国之初对“风化体”戏剧精神的倡导有关系。可这种情况到明中叶起了变化。推崇《拜月亭》的何良俊出来了,他认为后者更适合于舞台演出。何的观点一出,遭到王世贞、王骥德等人的批评。王世贞认为《拜月亭》“无词家大学问,无裨风教”。王骥德认为《拜月亭记》剧情“宣淫,端士所不与也”。王世贞、王骥德表露了抑《拜》扬《琵》的态度。接下来沈德符、徐复祚、凌濛初等等纷纷表明自己的观点,而支持何良俊者为多。比如沈德符
