Following an elaboration on the significance in developing currently the coal slurry drying technology and the theoretical problems that need to be tackled in thermal drying of coal slurry,an introduction is made to a new coal slurry drying system us as well as the system make-up and operating principle.The technically upgraded drum dryer used in the new coal drying system is large in size and complete in range with a drum diameter ranging from 1.5 to 5.2 m and a capacity of 10～300t/h.The application of the dryers in a number of coal preparation plants has met with favorable social and economic results.
