Like other Southeast Asian countries, the Vietnamese Chinese established their own Chinese school and founded Chinese newspapers and periodicals and cultivated many students who love Chinese literature. The rise of local Chinese-language newspapers and periodicals also promoted the development of Chinese literature in Vietnam, especially in The last century after the Second World War is the most vigorous. At that time, there were many talented people and colorful works including novels, short stories, essays, new poems and classical poems, which ended after the North Vietnamese troops occupied Saigon in April 1957. In this crucial era, Ye Huahua, an overseas Chinese educationist, wrote many poems about social unrest and expressed his outrage at the out-of-control of the situation, especially the growing anxiety of the Chinese in the increasingly nationalistic situation. This essay discusses the life thinking of a Chinese as a Vietnamese and a cultural person in the Vietnam War from the poems of Ye Chuanhua in his later years.
