A breakthrough study by Swiss scientists found that a virus can induce cancer cells to destroy themselves without harming healthy cells. Although the current study is still a preliminary step, it undoubtedly provides a new direction for cancer research. The study conducted by the Swiss Cancer Research Center pointed out that there is a gene called P53 in the human body that is responsible for “checking” cells. Once cells are found to be infected or damaged, they will be repaired or removed; if the cells are healthy , let it continue to grow, like a “cell guardian.” However, because cancer cells generally destroy P53 and render it ineffective, cancer cells can grow and spread uncontrollably.
