OBJECTIVE: To study the correlation between the combined detection of procalcitonin (PCT) and C-reactive protein (CRP) and severity of acute pancreatitis. Methods: The levels of procalcitonin (PCT) and C-reactive protein (CRP) in 56 patients with acute pancreatitis (AP) were analyzed. Thirty patients with mild acute pancreatitis (MAP) and 26 patients with severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) , Analysis and AP severity of the correlation. Results: The levels of PCT and CRP, APACHEⅡscore in patients with SAP at admission were positively correlated. The levels of PCT and CRP, APACHEⅡscore in patients with SAP at 24h after admission were significantly higher than those in MAP (P <0.05). Conclusion: The joint detection of PCT and CRP levels can accurately determine the severity of the disease in patients with acute pancreatitis.
