促甲状腺素释放激素(TRH)是存在于下丘脑的一种物质,可使垂体前叶释放促甲状腺素,从各种动物体分离出来的,TRH也具有同样的化学结构。TRH为一种三肽,近来被人工合成。 TRH可用于诊断,可测定血清促甲状腺素、蛋白结合碘、甲状腺素,三碘甲状腺原氨酸。TRH还可测定甲状腺在量和质方面的功能情况以及了解垂体内促甲状腺素的储备情况。给健康人快速静脉注射50~400微克的TRH15~30分钟后血清促甲状腺素的水平可达高峰,90分钟后逐渐下降。女性反应高于男性。口服TRH血清促甲
