陕西省足球队,过去以打硬仗、打水仗颇有点名气,人们都说是“遇强不弱,遇弱不强”。在第六届全运会上,都进入决赛阶段比赛,也着实让三秦父老及球迷们风光了一阵。然而、在第七届会运会的预选赛中,在决定能否进京参加决赛的一场关键比赛中,却将六年的等待,六年的血汗付之一“吹”。面对残酷的现实,队员们哭了,球迷们火了,领导着急了……七运会后,省体委在认真总结经验教训的同时,又在积极的探讨体育改革的方案,建筑体育改革的突破口,经过上下讨论,反复酝酿,最后决定从足球开始,迈出陕西体育改革的第一步。
