The vitality of folklore and traditional culture is still closely linked to the livelihood of people in today’s digital media era. Gu Liming, professor of the Department of Oil Painting at China Academy of Art and director of Fifth Studio, deconstructs the traditional symbols with a unique approach and constructs a new kind of god of oil painting on the basis of critical humanistic concern.
