近代中国第一大英文报纸——《字林西报》在1898年至1951年间刊登了347篇关于嘉兴的新闻报道,其中有41篇报道了抗战时期中国军民抗战、日伪军事统治、沦陷区社会经济等情况,这些报道不仅弥补了中国抗日报纸对沦陷区情况记载的不足,更粉碎了日伪报刊的虚假宣传。
In the period from 1898 to 1951, The Letter of the West, the largest English newspaper in modern China, published 347 news reports on Jiaxing. Among them, 41 reported on the Anti-Japanese War of the Chinese People’s Army during the War of Resistance Against Japan, the military rule of Japan and the puppet, and the enemy-occupied areas Social and economic conditions. These reports not only make up for the inadequacy recorded by the anti-Japanese newspapers in the occupied areas but also shatter the false propaganda of the newspapers and magazines in Japan.
