On the basis of motivation theory, this paper analyzes the status quo and existing problems of incentive mechanism for tour guides in small and medium-sized tourism enterprises. This article discusses how to establish an effective employee motivation mechanism and puts forward some suggestions in order to provide some help to small and medium-sized travel agents how to carry out effective employee motivation and retain excellent talents. According to the definition of “Classification of National Economy” issued by National Bureau of Statistics in 2004, small and medium-sized travel agencies refer to tourism enterprises with less than 100 employees or operating income below 10 million yuan.
