Objective To explore the role of diabetes education in the treatment of NIDDM. Methods A total of 102 patients with NIDDM were randomly divided into two groups: control group (n = 52) and control group (n = 50). Both groups were treated with oral hypoglycemic agents. Results In the education group, the scores of diabetes knowledge at 3 and 6 months after birth increased more than those in the control group, and the glycometabolism control was better. The changes at 3 months were more significant than those at 6 months. In the education group, the oral hypoglycemic dosage at 6 months was lower than that of the control group. Conclusion Diabetes education is conducive to the control of NIDDM, and can reduce the direct costs of treatment, but need to continue education to consolidate the curative effect.
