This article was published in the October 2016 “World of Quality.” Author Andrew Holt is editor of Quality World magazine. The Crossrail is London’s ongoing 15-billion-euro rail project and Europe’s largest infrastructure. Transcontinental rail links Heathrow to London’s east and central and western regions can greatly improve the city’s public transport system. This paper introduces how the project implements quality in the whole project from aspects of quality culture and organization, capability and organizational structure, performance assurance framework, quality performance indicators and so on, and creates a new quality standard for construction.
