The most obvious change in the cultivation of peach trees in the United States in recent years is the rise of nectarines. California is the United States the first producing peach state, accounting for more than half of all Peach production. Since 1977, nectarines from fruit packaging have consistently outperformed fresh peaches. From 25 years between 1955 and 1980, the yield of nectarine in California increased from 24,000 tons to 192,000 tons, an increase of 8 times.
