人被狗、猫、狼等动物咬伤易感染狂犬病毒,狂犬病毒能在狗的唾液腺中繁殖,伤口残留唾液使人感染。人发病时主要表现为兴奋、恐水、咽肌痉挛、呼吸困难和进行性瘫痪直至死亡。狂犬病潜伏期为20—90天,一旦发病,治疗上目前无特效药物,病死率极高,几乎近100%。典型疯狗常表现为两耳直立、双目直视、眼红、流涎、消瘦、狂叫乱跑、见人就咬、行走不稳;也有少数疯狗表现安静,离群独居、受惊扰、狂叫不已,吐舌流涎,直至全身麻痹而死。有的狗、猫虽无狂犬病表现,却带有狂犬病毒,它们咬人后照样可以使人感染狂犬病毒而得狂犬病。
