Buyi people in the past there is no uniform title. Former liberation has been called “tribe”, “Tujia” and so on. In 1953, at the first meeting of people’s deputies from all walks of life in our province, the representatives of Buyi ethnic groups proposed that “Zhongji”, “Isuzu” and “Mito” are the titles that the ruling classes before the liberation were discriminating against the people of Buyi and demanded that the people’s government Through certain legal procedures, they should be replaced by the inherent ethnic names that represent the wishes of their own nation. This requirement of the Bouyei people’s representatives is highly regarded by the party and the people’s government. In order to discuss the issue of the unified appellation of Buyi ethnic group, Guizhou Provincial People’s Government invited the representatives of Buyi ethnic groups in the province to hold a meeting on the provincial people’s committee on August 24, 1953. Through full discussion at the meeting, we all agreed that whatever is said in the language of one’s own nation is “Buyi” (transliteration)
