中籼稻新品种扬稻６号集优质、高产、多抗于一体，是建设“两高一优”农业和生产无公害绿色稻米的理想品种。在１９９５～１９９６年江苏省区域试验和江苏省生产试验中，产量均较对照种扬辐籼２号增产７％以上，大面积亩产６００ｋｇ左右，最高亩产达７７５ｋｇ。米质优，品质主要指标达部颁一级米标准，米饭松散柔软，冷后不硬，适口性佳。抗白叶枯病、稻瘟病，耐热性和苗期耐冷性较强，高度抗倒。对肥料、栽插密度适应幅度宽，适宜早播早栽。该品种全生育期１４５天左右，株高１１５ｃｍ，株型集散适中，茎秆粗壮，穗大粒重，生育后期光合优势强，生长清秀，熟相颇佳。适宜在一季中籼稻地区中上等肥力条件下种植
