Gold mining difficult to deal with production, sulfide tailings can be increased by biological oxidation of gold cyanide extraction rate. Thiocyanate-containing tailings are pretreated to remove thiocyanate prior to biooxidation because thiocyanate is toxic to microorganisms that oxidize the sulphide minerals.
