近年来.襄樊市樊东区围绕经济建设这个中心,以改革开放为动力,从解放思想、放宽政策、搞好服务、强化管理入手,不断适应市场经济取向,促进了个体私营经济持续、稳定、健康发展。目前,我区个体私营经济的发展已呈现出四个新特点:即发展速度明显加快,经营规模日趋扩大,行业领域不断拓展,整体素质逐步提高。到1993年底,全区已注册登记的个体工商户4528户、9485人,私营企业7户、204人。个体私营经济全年向国家提供税金1069万元,占全区财政收入的45％,成为一支活跃社会主义市场经济的生力军。
