The former Soviet Union experienced profound political and socio-economic crisis, forcing Russian scholars to seriously rethink the traditional economic theory and to reassess the history of the development of Soviet political economy. Renowned professor of economics at St. Petersburg University (formerly Leningrad University), Leonid Colorado is a famous scholar studying the history of Soviet Union’s economic thought. In 1992, he edited and published the Introduction to the History of Economic Thought in the Soviet Union and China St. Petersburg University Press). The first part of the book, “The history of Soviet political economy,” in the words of Shiloh Corrad, seeks to “critically re-examine the history of the Soviet Union’s major economic theory issues” from today’s point of view. In his “Introduction” to the book, he put forward his own new ideas on some aspects of the history of Soviet political economy.
