“The International Esperanto Conference is an excellent opportunity for external promotion of China.” Guo Xiaoyong, the deputy director of the Foreign Affairs Bureau of the People’s Republic of China, issued this feeling after he led the Chinese Esperanto delegation to attend the 88th International Esperanto Conference. Indeed, this is also the personal experience and sincere feelings of all members of the delegation. From July 26 to August 2, 2003, the 88th International Esperanto Conference was held in Gothenburg, the second largest city in Sweden. 1800 Esperanto speakers from 62 countries and regions attended the conference. The International Esperanto Conference is an international and comprehensive conference hosted by the International Esperanto Association and organized by Esperanto countries.
