Objective: Wild Astragalus is the main component of Scutellaria barbata, and Scutellaria barbata decoction has obvious antipyretic effect on rats. In order to confirm whether wild yellow peony is the main component of Scutellaria barbata’s antipyretic activity, the antipyretic effect of wild buckwheat was studied experimentally. METHODS: A rat febrile model was prepared by subcutaneous injection of 10% dry yeast suspension into the back of Wistar rats. 70 rats whose body temperature increased by 1°C or more were randomly divided into 12.5 mg·kg-1, 25 mg·kg-1, 50 mg·kg-1 groups of ascoticin, 100 mg·kg-1 aspirin, and jaundice.甙25mg·kg-1, 50mg·kg-1 and saline control groups. All intraperitoneal injections. The body temperature was measured once every hour after the drug, 6 times in succession. RESULTS: The ip administration of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi showed no significant effect on the body temperature of normal rats, and there was no significant difference in body temperature before and after administration (P>0.05). However, there was a significant antipyretic effect on febrile rats. There was a significant difference in body temperature before and after administration (P<0.01), and there was a significant dose-dependent relationship. The antipyretic effect of wild Astragalus continues for 4 h. The antipyretic effect of wild Astragalus is stronger than that of aspirin. Conclusion: Scutellaria baicalensis is the main component of Scutellaria barbata, and its antipyretic effect is similar to that of Scutellaria barbata, indicating that Scutellaria baicalensis is the main component of antipyretic effect of Scutellaria barbata.
