ECGs sampled at a sampling rate of 250 or higher per second produce a large amount of redundant data that is difficult to store and transmit. This article describes a real-time ECG data compressor - SLOPE. SLOPE treats some neighboring samples as a vector, and expands if the next sample falls within a sector defined by this vector and the threshold angle; otherwise, it is recognized as a linear segment . With this process, SLOPE repeatedly identifies linear segments of different lengths and different slopes. The parameters describing this linear segment are coded using the Huffman method, and the code is represented on this linear segment for transmission. SLOPEa is an improved version of SLOPE,
