This article starts with the observation mode of Lacan’s real world / imagination / symbolism and analyzes the dynamic development of protagonists in the contemporary American short story “Miller ” in different scenes, especially Miller’s transformation. Miller was trapped in the ambush pit first, then stuck in the stalemate of the mother-child relationship. His relief is the moment of the birth of desire, but also entered the symbolic community. The article also pointed out that even after Millard’s insight, he also did not realize that there was another story hiding behind: the truth of the news of bereavement. Uncertainties at the end of the novel make the “story plugged in.” The article provides a completely new explanation of “another Miller ” from a psychological point of view, revealing its profound connotation.
