北京科技大学是一所以冶金和材料为特色,以工为主,理工管文相结合的多科性大学,是全国重点大学之一,归属冶金工业部。它始建于1952年,最初名为北京钢铁工业学院,1960年改为北京钢铁学院,1988年改为北京科技大学。早期曾由高芸生、张文奇、王润、李静波担任院、校长,现任校长杨天钧。北京科技大学建有研究生院和成人教育学院。有18个系,19个研究所,26个本科生专业,14个博士学位授权学科、35个硕士学位授权学科,有3个学科11个专业设立了博士后科研流动站,有6个学科经国家教委评定为全国重点学科。北京科技大学师资力量雄厚,具有较高的学术水平。1992年底职工总数为3375人,专任
Beijing University of Science and Technology is a multi-disciplinary university that combines metallurgy and materials with a focus on engineering and science and technology. It is one of the key universities in the country and belongs to the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry. It was founded in 1952, originally named Beijing Institute of Iron and Steel Industry, Beijing Iron and Steel Institute in 1960 changed to Beijing University of Technology in 1988. In the early days, Gao Yunsheng, Zhang Wenqi, Wang Run and Li Jingbo acted as the president and current principal Yang Tianjun. Beijing University of Technology has a graduate school and adult education college. There are 18 faculties, 19 institutes, 26 undergraduate majors, 14 doctoral programs, 35 master’s degree programs, 3 disciplines and 11 specialized post-doctoral research stations.
