七十年代,法国NAT公司发展了一种新型膨胀制冷机——热分离机。这种膨胀机属于做外功的膨胀制冷机,但与活塞式和透平式膨胀机相比,结构简单,制冷部分无运动部件,具有抵抗二相流侵蚀的能力,特别适用于气体分离。日本三菱重工业公司引进法国NAT公司的技术,制造出了用于化工尾气及石油伴生气的分离回收装置。国内的浙江大学、大连工学院及营口石油化工研究所等,通过多年的努力,亦研制了这种新型制冷机,并且对其结构、制造工艺及性能改进做了大量工作,将该机的等嫡效率提高到60%以
