Heavy metal cadmium (Cd) pollution has become one of the serious environmental problems. In recent years, poplar has been studied more and more as a heavy metal Cd phytoremediation species. In this paper, the physiological and biochemical responses of Poplar to Cd stress were reviewed in terms of the growth, photosynthesis, antioxidant enzyme activities, soluble protein contents and molecular level changes of poplar. The effects of poplar on Cd uptake and contamination of soils The distribution of Cd in Poplar and the resistance mechanism of Poplar to Cd were pointed out. Poplar was found to have strong resistance to heavy metal Cd in soils, and this resistance was related to poplar varieties, tree ages, soil types, soils In order to provide further theoretical references for the Cd pollution in poplar restoration of soils.
